Ionuț Bârlan was born in 1984 in Bucharest. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the National University of Music Bucharest, studying with Professor Săndel Smărăndescu and later with Professor Ștefan Thomasz.
Ionuț continued his studies in Holland, where he received from the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen his second Master’s Degree, Professor’s Sorin Orcinschi class, and in Germany, at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik Mannheim, Professor’s Petru Iuga class, where he obtained his Orchestra Soloist Degree.
During his studies, Ionuț participated in masterclasses held by distinguished double bass players like Dorin Marc, Janne Saksala, Wolfgang Güttler, Nabil Shehata, Ödön Racz, Heinrich Braun, Philipp Stubenrauch, Slawomir Greda, Cătălin Rotaru, Thierry Barbé, and Giuseppe Ettore.
Ionuț Bârlan collaborates with numerous orchestras such as Kurpfälzischen Kammerorchester (Mannheim), Württembergischen Kammerorchester (Heilbronn), Mannheimenr Philharmoniker, Magdeburgische Philharmonie, Thüringer Symphoniker, and Kammerphilharmonie Mannheim.
