The Masterclasses are organized by Romanian Chamber Orchestra under an educational partnership with the West University of Timișoara – Faculty of Music and Theatre and the Rotary Opera Club Timișoara .

Application and full information:

  • All masterclasses are open exclusively to young Romanian musicians, classes being divided into two age groups: 10-18 and 19-30.
  • All masterclasses are held in Timișoara, and all minors must be accompanied by a tutor.

Chamber Music

Schedule & repertoire:

  • Each participant (regardless of age category) will participate in 3 individual classes with a duration between 45 minutes and 60 minutes, depending on the teacher.
  • The chamber music ensembles will receive 3 classes with a duration of 60 minutes.
  • Piano accompaniment is provided. For more efficient planning of the masterclasses, it is mandatory that each participant communicates the selected repertoire in the registration form and the works that need the attendance of a pianist.

Scholarships for young musicians:

  • From the participants aged between 19-30, 2 violinists, 1 violist, and 1 cellist will be selected and awarded the Romanian Chamber Orchestra Scholarship.
  • The selection will be made based on the recordings submitted in the registration form, and will be made by the artistic advisory team.
  • The scholarship offers young musicians the opportunity to participate in the Romanian Chamber Orchestra project, which will take place between the 12th and 22th of August 2021.
  • The 4 selected musicians that will access the Romanian Chamber Orchestra Scholarship, must be available during the project: 12th to 22th of August 2021.
  • The scholarship fully covers the accommodation and transportation costs during the project: rehearsals and concerts.

Registration fee:

  • Registration fee masterclass €120 (required after receiving the confirmation that you have been selected).
  • In case the participant chooses two masterclasses for the same instrument, the registration fee is €200.
  • The registration fee does not cover transport costs, accommodation, or meals.
  • The Romanian Chamber Orchestra Scholarship covers accommodation and transportation costs during the orchestra project’s duration.
  • Due to the educational partnership with the Faculty of Music and Theatre Timișoara, for each masterclass, at least one FMT student will benefit from free admission (the student will be chosen based on the hearing of the recordings by an artistic commission). All FMT students can be passive participants in all masterclasses, free of charge (the only exception is the conducting masterclass), respecting the protection measures against the spread of COVID.

COVID-19 recommendations:

  • the participant should take all the travel measures and not travel abroad in the red areas with increased risks of infection.
  • 14 days before attending the masterclass, the participant shouldn’t have had the COVID-19 symptoms or had to self-isolate.
  • 14 days before attending the masterclass, the participant shouldn’t have had contact with other persons who traveled abroad (red areas), with persons diagnosed with COVID-19, with persons who had personal contact with patients diagnosed with COVID-19 or with persons that suffer from the COVID-19 symptomatology, and last but not least, the participant shouldn’t have been exposed to persons who were quarantined or isolated.
  • the organizer will apply temperature screening both for professors and students, all-access being restricted if the scanner’s reading result is not within the normal range of body temperature (37,3°C). During the masterclass, all participants will follow the 1.5-meter rule of social distancing.
  • the organizer undertakes to ensure the cleaning and disinfection of the floors, the classroom (desks, tables, chairs, etc.), the door handles and window sills, by using a detergent and biocides, before and after each series of masterclasses.
  • hand sanitizers, disinfectants, personal protective equipment (such as masks) will be provided by the organizers.
