DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM\nRossini: Sinfonia di “La pietra del paragone”Enescu: Pastorale Fantaisie Lipatti: Concertino in Classical Style ———F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: Symphony n. 4 in A Major op. 90 “Italiana” 3\nDaniel Ciobanu – pianoGabriel Bebeșelea – conductorRomanian Chamber Orchestra\n\nThis event is part of the Romania-Italy Cultural Year 2026\, the first bilateral project of such scale in the history of the two countries. Under the High Patronage of the President of Romania\, Nicușor Dan\, and the President of the Italian Republic\, Sergio Mattarella\, the event marks the launch of an extensive programme celebrating the cultural\, historical and European ties between the two states.Designed by the Embassy of Romania to Italy and carried out with the support of the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs of both countries\, the Romanian Ministry of Defence and in coordination with partner cultural institutions\, the Romania-Italy Cultural Year 2026 is set to become one of the most ambitious joint projects ever undertaken. It is also the first Cultural Year organised simultaneously by the two states. The official presentation of the programme brought together representatives of Italian institutions\, diplomats and journalists\, offering a detailed overview of a project conceived as a two-stage cultural dialogue.\n‘A shared narrative of identity’\nGabriela Dancău\, Romania’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic\, highlighted the deeply symbolic dimension of the initiative\, presenting the Cultural Year as an expression of the historic friendship and shared European vocation of the two countries.‘This entire ensemble – every name\, every place\, every date – outlines an itinerary that goes beyond a simple cultural programme and becomes a shared narrative of identity. Culture is not an accessory to politics but its noblest form\,’ the ambassador said.

SUMMARY:Leoš Janáček International Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM George Enescu: Pastorale fantaisieDinu Lipatti: Concertino in the classical style op. 3Leoš Janáček: Concertino\, JW VII/11György Ligeti: Concert Românesc\n\nDaniel Ciobanu – pianoGabriel Bebeșelea – conductorRomanian Chamber Orchestra\n\nAbout the program\nLeoš Janáček’s Piano Concertino\, in confrontation with the elemental music whose roots grow from the rich culture of Romania\, will be presented by artists who have this music inherently in their blood: the energetic Romanian pianist Daniel Ciobanu and the Romanian Chamber Orchestra with conductor Gabriel Bebeșelea.\nPastorale-Fantaisie for small orchestra was written by George Enescu in 1899 at the age of just seventeen while studying at the Paris Conservatory\, and the piece was performed at a concert in Paris that same year. Since then\, the score has been forgotten until 2017\, when this early\, romantically flamboyant piece by Enescu was resurrected by conductor Gabriel Bebeșelea. Many years later\, Enescu stood as godfather at the baptism of the budding but extraordinarily talented Bucharest pianist Dino Lipatti. Between the two world wars\, Lipatti was one of the most respected piano virtuosos\, but his career was ended by an untimely death. Lipatti also devoted himself to composition on the side. His Concertino in Classical Style from 1936 reflects inspiration from the music of Joseph Haydn and Johann Sebastian Bach. Janáček’s Concertino for piano and chamber ensemble from 1925 presents a completely unique sound world\, which\, like Janáček’s opera The Adventures of the Cunning Fox\, turns to the world of nature. “There are crickets\, flies\, a deer – a sociable stream – and a man\,” Janáček wrote about his work to Kamila Stösslová. Even after a hundred years\, which have passed this year since the premiere of the Concertino\, this gem of chamber music still exudes an extraordinary youthful energy and freshness. György Ligeti’s Concert Românesc\, the Hungarian enfent terrible of the musical avant-garde of the second half of the 20th century\, also abounds with unbridled vitality. Elements of Romanian folk music and the raw sound of village folk bands effectively blend with modern musical expression in this work from 1951.
