Masterclasses

1. Conducting masterclass with maestro Cristian Măcelaru

General informations

The conducting masterclass is open to all conductors, regardless of nationality, aged between 18 and 40.

To apply for the masterclass, the conductors will attach a video fragment, of maximum 10 minutes, in the form of a link (eg: Youtube, Vimeo). The recording can be a moment from a concert, competition or rehearsal, but the candidate must be visible (preferably with a front-facing camera so that gestures and expression can be observed) throughout the filming. Additionally, a CV of maximum 2 pages (max. 3600 characters) will be attached to the form.

It is mandatory to present a letter of recommendation from an artist or conductor with whom you have collaborated (in Romanian, German, French or English).

Scholarship for Romanian conductors

The Romanian Chamber Orchestra offers a limited number of full/partial scholarships to Romanian conductors, in case a precarious financial situation does not allow them to participate in the masterclass.

In this case, the scholarship covers fully/partially the masterclass participation fee, but the costs of accommodation, meals and transport are borne by the participants.

The request for scholarships is made in the text of the letter of motivation that is attached to the registration form mentioned in the Conditions of Participation and must be justified by financial documents that will be processed according to the rules for the protection of personal data.

Selection process and communication of results

The selection process is carried out by the Maestro Cristian Măcelaru together with the artistic director Cristian Andriș.

More informations regarding the next masterclass will be posted in 2026.
